Estate plans and business succession plans often collide in ways that create serious legal and practical problems OR contradict each other. Many times, one attorney does not talk to the other and the requirements from a business law perspective are not met and conversely the business law attorney may not utilize the business owner’s estate plan to its fullest effect. This seminar, taught from the perspective of a business law attorney, is designed for estate planning and business law attorneys who regularly work with clients that own LLCs, corporations, partnerships, and closely held businesses. We will discuss how to create a cohesive estate/business succession plan for business owners that contemplates both areas of law. We will also discuss the new Residential Real Estate (RRE) rule promulgated by FinCEN as well as its current status.
